During your vacation on the island, expect to have plenty of opportunities to find some shelling treasures. The first key to success is to go out about an hour before low tide. It works and allows you to see a lot more of the local marine life. Put on your wet wearable footwear, as you need to walk in one to twelve inches of water to make this work so well.

The Sanibel Tide Chart Strong winds from the Northwest are the real key to a big day of treasure hunting on the shoreline. However, that does not always happen so you would next go with the low tide timing.
