One of the Neat Places to See

Always interesting to checkout is the famous bayside fishing pier, located on the eastern end of the island. It is part of Lighthouse Beach Park and the perfect place to get you line wet, while keeping your feet dry. Fish migrated around the land's end corner to enter or exit from the gulf waters. Notice how fast the tide moves underneath the pier, boldly pushing the bait buckets away from the docks.

East Pier Sightseeing at Sanibel Island Beach
Try to explore as much of it as you have time, because this is where the big surprises are found! The really neat parts of the island are on the waterfront.

Live Fish Bait by Sanibel Pier
You can pick up shrimp or other live bait down the street, just past the causeway, on Periwinkle left side. The baitbox is the name of the place, easy to find. We biked down from our seahorse hotel.

So Many Boats to See Go Through
The southeastern part of the island mixes nature and modern life so well. The boats going by between the Sanibel Lighthouse and Ft. Myers Beach are outstanding to watch or video tape. The tall sailboats are my personal favorite and there are so many cruising by since they easily fit under the new causeway bridge.
