Hungry Giant Gopher Tortoise

The wildlife and nature along the Sanibel Island Bicycle Trails is just amazing and it changes every single day. I really never know what might occur during these excursions, which is part of the charm! On the first part of this trip was an encounter with a giant gopher tortoise...wow, so hungry.

Things to See on the Sanibel Bike Trails
If you keep your eyes on lookout, there are all sorts of things to see along the Sanibel Island Bicycle Trails. Expect to see a variety of nature, which is part of why the beach bike rules on the island!

Helping out with Mother Nature
The Florida Nature Pros had listed the tortoise as a Species of Special Concern, but in 2007 changed it to Threatened. Sanibel and Captiva are areas that the critters thrive!
